The Eastside Builder

At 7 years old, John Lux began collecting sports cards. Fifteen years later he sold his collection to a single buyer, which helped found Lux Homes LLC. Now John Lux is one of the dominant builders in Kirkland.

When the sports cards were sold it was covered by King 5 news, but now his local fame is promoted by word of mouth through the quality in the homes he builds. The most popular style of Lux homes are Northwest Craftsman, but his repertoire includes Mediterranean stucco and Cape Cod styles as well.

Quality is a watchword with Lux. While the mission is—and always has been—to construct a solid, well-built house, it is his finishing touches that create the warmth and feel of a home. To create the feeling of casual elegance and quality, the homes most often include:

• Anderson wood clad windows
• Granite slab kitchen counters
• Tile counter tops
• Extensive hardwood floors and millwork
• Heated tile floors in the master bath
• Mud-set tiled showers, a soaking tub

Another key word in the Lux Homes LLC philosophy is "value." They value their relationships with customers and subcontractors as integral to their growth and success. Lux says, "We provide value for the dollar. We do this by understanding the functions that time and cost play in building a home. The faster we build a home and the closer we watch our expenses, the higher the value we have provided in the price of the home."

Lux's interest in sports continues with the family history of actively sponsoring and supporting several baseball leagues for kids in the Kirkland area. He believes it makes the quality of life in the area even more desirable.
